ARTWORKS BY THE BELL GROUP
TWO HUNDRED AND TWO DECADES AND COUNTING
The first committee meeting to establish the Bell & District Art Group took place on March 25th, 1965, in the Bell QCWA rooms..
Bell Bunya Community Centre has painted in a variety of places over the years, including members’ homes, en plein air field days, old farmhouses, the annex of the Bell Show pavilion, the Bell Historic Railway station, the old Butcher Shop, and the Bluebelles Cafe..
In the Bell Bunya Community Centre, there is an art gallery called Bluebelles, which is run and supported by our art group. A modern gallery hanging and lighting system creates a delicate soft lighting ambience to showcase members’ works in this expansive and aesthetically pleasing gallery. Visitors will find the approach fresh and inviting because new exhibitions are put on on a regular basis.
Tourists come from all over to take advantage of all that the Community Centre has to offer: the Centre Coffee Shop, Visitor Information Centers, handcrafted gift lines and skincare ranges, health and therapeutic care rooms, Bell Library and landscaped surrounds.
Painting on Thursdays, as well as offering art workshops taught by professional tutors, are now possible because of the addition of a stunning new art studio space.
WORKSHOPS FOR CHILDREN IN THE ARTS
We started Junior Art Workshops for kids in 2016 and have been doing them ever since. The junior workshops take place over the summer when the kids are off from school. The workshops are designed to help children in the Bell area develop their creative skills and cultural awareness while also giving them something to do during the holidays.
HANDMADE CATTERIES AND UNIQUE PROJECTS
For members of the Bell Art Group, every Thursday is Painting Day. The Community Centre’s studio space is open to anyone who enjoys painting, paper-making, or knitting.
The Bell Art Exhibition (BALE) is currently taking place.
The Bell Art Group hosts the annual Bell Art Exhibition, which takes place at the Bell Memorial Public Hall. A gala opening and awards ceremony kicks off the week-long exhibition.
The 5000 Poppies Project and One Million Stars to End Violence are two other crafty projects in which we participate regularly as well.
