Honu Honi Surf Camp is a little pocket of fun, relaxation, and good vibes located on the Great Ocean Road, close to the iconic Bells Beach. We offer week-long and weekend surf camps for you to learn to surf or to improve your skills.
We believe that surfing is an escape to tune out the noise and tune in with what really matters, and we encourage you to seek that connection during your stay.
The name Honu Honi was chosen to give thanks, acknowledgment, and appreciation to the birthplace of surfing and the culture that surrounds it – Hawaiʻi. We work hard to make sure you leave with a more well-rounded knowledge of the ocean and surfing than just standing up on a board (although, we’ll teach you that too).
Honu Honi Surf Camps are all-inclusive experiences. We provide your accommodation, all meals, surf lessons, yoga classes, surf theory, boards and wetsuits, and ridiculously high levels of stoke. These camps are for the ones who want to learn how to properly surf, not for people who just want to stand up once or twice. We have camps running for both complete beginners, as well as for the more seasoned punter.
Our accommodation consists of huge five-metre bell tents which provide loads of space for up to four occupants at a time. We provide all of your bedding to make sure that you’re super cosy as you drift off to sleep listening to the waves rolling in at the beach.
Honu Honi Surf Camp is a one-and-a-half-hour drive from Melbourne city and Melbourne (Tullamarine) Airport, and 41 minutes from Avalon Airport. Public transport access is available to get to camp from Melbourne (train and bus – two hours travel time). We are happy to help line up bus times for you, and can also potentially arrange a pick-up service from the closest train station for a small additional fee (subject to availability).
